    WHAT’S NEW THIS OCTOBER

From Halloween goodies to new-season fashions, there are plenty of treats to get stuck into at The Royal Exchange this month

    MINI MARVELS

Mayfair Mania handbags, from £195, Aspinal of London

They say that good things come in small packages, and that’s certainly the case when it comes to the latest addition to Aspinal of London’s iconic Mayfair collection. The Mayfair Nano is the newest and smallest member of the Mayfair family; part of the recent Mayfair Mania campaign, which launched on 1 October. This micro design is based on the Mayfair Midi silhouette, with a bespoke gold chain so it can be worn across the body. Alternatively it can be clipped to a larger bag as a quirky charm. The Mayfair Mania collection is available in an array of beautiful autumnal shades that make us excited for the new season.

    SOMETHING WICKED

Popcorn macarons, £2.20 each, gift boxes from £23.50, Ladurée; Wicked Wicker Halloween Hamper, £75, Fortnum & Mason

Halloween is on the horizon and things are getting spooky at Fortnum & Mason. The spook-tacular Wicked Wicker Halloween Hamper is now available at Fortnum’s at The Royal Exchange and features a range of fiendishly good treats, including Milk Chocolate Pumpkin Spiced Caramel Popcorn and chocolate-covered Witches’ Fingernails. The iconic F&M wicker hamper is given a spooky twist in limited-edition black and orange that will make a fantastic keepsake all year round.

Also debuting some fang-tastic new goodies this month is French patisserie Ladurée, who has created a limited-edition Halloween gift box featuring four popcorn flavoured macarons and four spooky face designs.  They will also be selling a special-edition Halloween tart filled with popcorn and polenta almond cream, silky miso caramel, popcorn praline and finished with a whipped popcorn ganache and a chocolate bat. Available in-store from 4 October. Bon appetite!

    HIGH FLYER

British heritage jeweller Boodles has set the bar high with its new circus-inspired collection. Trapeze is the newest addition to Boodles’ icon collection, and features statement necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings set with Ashoka-cut diamonds in platinum, giving the effect of a trapeze bar in flight. ‘Movement and jewellery go together,’ commented Boodles head of design Rebecca Hawkins. ‘The way light dances in precious stones is what makes them so attractive; it “see-saws” inside the facets of diamonds.’ Brand new for autumn-winter 2021, this elegant collection is sure to become a modern classic.

    PAGE TURNER

It doesn’t feel that long ago that we were saying goodbye (and good riddance) to 2020 but, somehow, the year 2022 is just around the corner. So why not get the new year off to the best possible start by stocking up on a Smythson leather diary? These iconic journals have been a staple of the company since 1887. Each one features Smythson’s iconic blue featherweight pages and the 2022 collection introduces vibrant watercolour hues and metallic numbers. You can also get your diary personalised with initials or even a playful motif or nickname. They make fantastic presents – and getting organised ahead of the Christmas rush is always a good idea.
