Thanks, Mum
For Mother’s Day, say it with a reservation at The Royal Exchange.
Treat her like a queen this March with a day out dining in the footsteps of royalty. The Royal Exchange’s restaurants, bars and tearooms offer everything from the charming to the spectacular, blending four and a half centuries of history with the very best of modern cuisine. Whether for the special day itself or an afternoon in the run-up, The Royal Exchange promises an experience she will treasure. Read on for our pick of the perfect dining spots, beginning with the wonderful Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea from Engel & Jang: available Monday to Saturday from the 9th of March.

Delight in this perfectly pink afternoon treat inspired by the beauty of the Korean Cherry Blossom Festival. Classic finger sandwiches sit alongside a fresh spring line-up of cakes, designed especially by Head Pastry Chef Lorena Tommasi. Best enjoyed with the restaurant’s selection of loose-leaf Jing teas — or “add a touch of luxury a glass of Hattingley English Sparkling Wine or Ruinart Champagne.”
Kiani Tea’s Persian-inspired Afternoon Tea is now available for walk-ins, making this unique experience easy to enjoy even on a whim — perfect for those mums who appreciate the experiential and the spontaneous. The boutique’s offering “features Persian flavours woven into the classic tradition, including rose, saffron and pistachio sweets, freshly baked rose and pistachio scones, and a selection of our Persian teas,” it explains.

For a fabulous Sunday out, nothing beats a proper traditional roast. Our award-winning bar and restaurant The Libertine has gained a cult following for its Sunday menu, celebrating the best butchers’ meats with delicious seasonal veg. It invites you to “join us for a delicious Mother’s Day lunch with proper Sunday roasts, and a complimentary glass of Rathfinny Classic Cuvée for Mum.”
And then, of course, there’s Fortnum’s. At “the most Instagrammable restaurant in London” (The London Standard), you’ll enjoy sweeping views across the historic courtyard alongside menus — and cellars — worthy of the setting. Settle in for Afternoon Tea, a timeless take on the great British tradition, or pull up a bar stool with Mum and toast Mother’s Day in unmistakable Fortnum’s style.
