Summer Starts

At last.

June brings what we hope will be a long (if late) summer. Whether you’re waving off work for holiday vibes — or just the spring’s wet weather — brighten up your plans with these luxury releases. Technicolour is the theme this month — bright hues and popping tones that will sparkle when the sun, finally, comes out to stay.

What better way to start than this delightful women’s silk scarf from Hermès? Dreamt up by Greek artist Elias Kafouroswith, this scoop of seaside nostalgia is sprinkled with playful nods to the brand’s rich heritage — horseshoe, Chaîne d’ancre link, horsehead and more. So, what will it be —  double-chocolate Horsey or the smooth cream of the Faubourg cup? The decision is silky sweet.

Also drawing inspiration from the art world is Boodles, whose new “Play of Light” collection takes its cues from the National Gallery’s masterworks. This piece is perfect for summer, not only thanks to its heady, brilliant colours, but in how it reconstructs the Impressionists’ use of light. The brand explains that “this cocktail ring takes its inspiration from…Monet’s ‘Bathers at La Grenouilère’, where the reflection of light in water creates a very specific motif, reproduced in this ring.”

Turning from Paris to Vienna, Montblanc has seized on Gustav Klimt to create a bold new writing instrument. Like the art of its namesake, the release is full of meaning and signification — the yellow gold-coated hammered cone is set with a synthetic green spinel, the colour evoking spring” while “Klimt’s Secession monogram, a gold-coloured tampon print of his initials, GK, refers to his achievements for the Vienna Secession.” A piece to treasure.

Georg Jensen’s Fusion Ring has been a stalwart of the house’s collection since the turn of the millennium. Its inventive design conceit — whereby end and centre rings interlock in a wave-contoured design — means that it can be remade every day in countless individual combinations. This season brand drops an array of new colours to choose from — blue, red, green and black. Ragnar Hjartarson, Georg Jensen’s creative director, explains how “the new designs take an already striking jewellery icon one step further. The stunning and rich new hues serve as a beautiful addition to any Fusion ring, transforming each piece into even more personalised jewellery.”

Rings from the Royal Exchange Jewellers are always unique. Make them even more so by combining their radiant stones together — in clashing or complimentary hues. Add some colour to your collection for the start of the season with this wide collection of gemstone-set jewellery in an array of colours.
