Learn new skills in your lunch break with a series of innovative craft workshops at this yearâs The Makersâ Market at The Royal Exchange
For the second iteration of The Makersâ Market at The Royal Exchange, in association with London Craft Week, we have introduced a series of workshops and masterclasses with our artisan stallholders, and weâd love for you to take part. Whether you want to get artistic by creating a bespoke painted chess piece with Purling or have a go at making your own fragrance with Maya Njie, this is your chance to get crafty in one of Londonâs most iconic buildings.

WHAT IS IT?
Paint your own chess piece with Purling Ltd

Join professional artist and creative lead for Purling Gosia Ćapsa-Malawska to experience a live painting session of your very own chess piece. The luxury games manufacturer will guide you through painting a rook and encourage you to express your artistic flare!

Stitch an umbrella rosette with James Ince Umbrellas

Learn how to hand-stitch a luxury rosette embellishment onto your umbrella with James Ince Umbrellas, Britainâs oldest umbrella maker. You can either bring in your own umbrella or buy one on the day. Youâll learn this unique and traditional skill, which involves making a rosette from a single piece of fabric woven around the ribs of your umbrella, with plenty of vibrant colours and patterns to choose from.

Create woven art with Cassandra Sabo

Try your hand at loom weaving with designer and hand-weaver Cassandra Sabo. Cassandra will guide you through the process of designing simple textiles and basic weaving techniques on a hand loom using sustainable yarns.

Create your own bespoke fragrance with perfumer Maya Njie
WHEN?

Cult perfumer Maya Njie is teaching this exclusive workshop where participants will learn how to mix and blend a variety of ingredients to create a bespoke signature fragrance. You will explore a variety of natural and synthetic ingredients that are commonly used in perfumery and will receive a kit containing a 20ml glass dropper bottle to tailor to your own preference, along with a 7.5ml vial to decant into. You will also be working from your own formula booklet.

Please be aware that we will be working with diluted ingredients commonly used in perfumery and some contain allergens (many of which are naturally occurring in essential oils).
