Introducing — Karen Turner

An evening celebrating the work of the Dubel Prize nominee at The Libertine.

Red Eight Gallery invites you to an evening in honour of Karen Turner, the fourth of The Dubel Prize’s 10 selected artists. On the 19th of January, Turner will exhibit her work in the intimate space of The Libertine — in a night that will bring you up close and personal with her striking approach to portraiture and figure painting. Alongside this presentation, you can expect live music, DJs, canapés and complimentary drinks: perfect for banishing the January blues. RSVP here.

Turner is an award-winning figure and portrait artist whose oil paintings are a commentary on the weight of expectations. Focusing on the physical body and the scrutiny to which it is commonly subjected, her work explores what society expects of a woman, the ways in which a woman’s shape is often considered to define her and the impact that this has on her life and sense of self.
