For Auld Lang Syne

Burns night.

The 25th is a welcome respite from the January blues. Each year, folk from all over the world indulge in the chance to raise a glass to Scotland’s national bard. It’s a night of hearty fare, poetry, speeches and, of course, uisge beatha β€” whisky, the water of life. Whether you’re looking to host your own evening or join in the revels here at The Royal Exchange, read on for the best of Burns.

But first β€” Tomoka has an exclusive special offer for our newsletter readers: just quote BURNS25 in-store at The Royal Exchange between the 20-24th January to get 10% off of all whisky purchases; what’s more, you can enter the brand’s exclusive Instagram giveaway here for the chance to win a bottle of Compass Box Hedonism 2024 β€” perfect for charging your glasses on the 25th.

Our award-winning bar and restaurant The Libertine’s Burns Night isΒ a lively Supper Club to toast the poet’s legacy. The brand invites you to “savour the flavours of Scotland with an indulgent Burns Night feast, including a delicious three-course dinner paired with three different whisky expressions from Glenmorangie. With an expert Master of Ceremonies on hand to lead proceedings, expect a spirited evening in celebrations of the great Robert Burns.” Following a welcome cocktail, you’ll enjoy a choice of starters such as Loch Duarte Smoked Salmon and Carpaccio of Highland Beed, followed by mains like Scottish Wild Venison Haunch Steak and Balmoral Cornfed Chicken. Finish it off with a traditional Raspberry Cranachan Parfait, or Clootie Dumpling with clotted cream.

If you’d rather host your own, well, Burns Night is one of Fortnum and Mason’s favourite evenings in the calendar, and over the centuries, the supper has evolved its own rituals. From traditional haggis for piping all the way to Scotch whisky for toasting, the brand has everything needed to help you celebrate at home and honour Scotland’s favourite poet. Stop in at its Royal Exchange store to discover the range of delights: including Fortnum’s Personalised Speyside Single Malt Whisky as well as shortbread, smoked salmon and even that all-important glassware for the toasts and addresses.

For those looking for something different, why not try the Fortnum’s Venison and Haggis Wellington? Made in-house by the brand’s expert chefs, this venison loin is roasted to tender perfection, wrapped in haggis and layered with a crispy, buttery puff pastry. A real centrepiece.
